THE PARKER PRESBYTERIAN CEMETERY ASSOCIATION

Every descendant of Catharina Truby Rohrer Marshall has kinfolk--and most likely, a direct ancestor, buried here.  It's not a perpetual care cemetery, so contributions from family members help assure the continuing upkeep of this family burial place.  Make your check payable to "The Parker Presbyterian Cemetery Association" and send it to the address noted below.  Make sure to tell them your link to our Family and this cemetery.

THE BALTZER MEYER HISTORICAL SOCIETY

This smaller Westmoreland County historical society focuses on the German-speaking early settlers of the Greensburg area--among whom were our Truby and Bauman ancestors.  This group doesn't have the funding sources of the larger society in the region.   I try to support it because of its direct link to our family in the late 1700s.

RANDOM ACTS OF GENEALOGICAL KINDNESS

Over 4000 volunteers worldwide offer to do local genealogical research, at no cost, for folks like me who can't travel everywhere.  I've used these good-hearted volunteers a half dozen times; and thanks to them, I was able to connect with descendants of Simeon Hovey Marshall in both Alabama and Virginia and, as well, locate information on family members in Kansas and Washington State.  It's a worthwhile organization to support!

Franklin Rumbarger Gravestone

Replacement of the Franklin Rumbarger Gravestone

The United States Government, through the Department of Veterans Affairs, will replace worn gravestones of Civil War soldiers.  Franklin Rumbarger (1842-1895), a sharpshooter during the Civil War, was the younger brother of Anna Mary Rumbarger Marshall and hence, the uncle of her twelve children.  This project will be particularly interesting for descendants of his Marshall nephews and nieces.  His nephew Frank Marshall (1867-1922) of Carson, Washington, was named for this uncle.

The effort would entail making application for the replacement gravestone and following the process to its completion.  When it arrives, there are plenty of Marshall kin close enough to the Rumbarger Cemetery in DuBois to assure its proper placement--the effort of a summer's morning or afternoon, topped off with a cold beer or two to toast the memory of our Civil War collateral ancestor.

Parish Registers of the

Episcopal Church of Our Father in Foxburg

These historic books are in need of rebinding.  They contain many records of the  family of Samuel Marshall Robinson and, as well, the marriage record of Lloyd London Marshall and Ethel Richards.

You may contact the church directly about this, or I will be glad to speak with the Rector myself -- he's a colleague who has graciously welcomed me several times as I've researched our family in the Parish House.  Click here for direct contact information.

Obituaries of Family Members

Will you mail or email me copies of any family obituaries you may have kept--
or which your parents or grandparents had?  The information is invaluable for our genealogy project.  Thanks!
